At the core of this research is the problem of verifying the identity and operational history of the steamboat “Lev”, which appears in economic records of Minsk and Grodno governorates as the property of the Pusłowski landowners and under the commercial management of merchant Levin.

The primary hypothesis of this study, supported by documentary evidence, posits that the steamboat “Lev”, operating along the Pripyat River, was not a newly constructed vessel, but the renamed steamboat “Wisła”, previously operated in the Vistula basin (Kingdom of Poland) and transferred across the Dnieper–Bug Canal.
